CattleEye emerged from the pursuit
of a completely hardware free method
of monitoring dairy cows.

The early research

CattleEye uses computer vision and machine learning to deliver practical, science-led livestock monitoring. Early studies showed mobility scoring comparable to experienced veterinarians, with over 80% agreement. Further validation across UK dairy farms confirmed the system can outperform human assessors when used consistently over time.

Growing with the farms that trusted us

CattleEye launched in the UK and Ireland, addressing widespread lameness and labour pressures with objective, auditable welfare data. Early farm adoption confirmed that consistent daily scoring improves outcomes and delivers clear financial return. Proven at scale, the system now supports herds from 200 to 6,000+ cattle, with tens of millions of checks completed across 23 countries.

2024: Partnership with GEA

In March 2024, CattleEye was acquired by GEA, one of the world’s largest dairy equipment manufacturers. The partnership expands global reach through GEA’s distribution network, accelerating adoption across Europe, North America, and beyond. It signals that the technology has reached the accuracy and reliability required by a leading operator in the sector.
GEA's decision to partner with CattleEye confirmed that the technology had reached a level of accuracy and reliability that one of the sector's most experienced operators was prepared to come in behind it.

Our Mission

CattleEye's mission is to give dairy farmers the information they need to act sooner, manage smarter, and run more profitable, more humane herds. CattleEye's mission is to give dairy farmers the information they need to act sooner, manage smarter, and run more profitable, more humane herds. Better data. Earlier decisions. Healthier animals.

Culture

Founded in Belfast, with deep roots in AI diagnostics and dairy farming, CattleEye exists to protect farm businesses and improve the lives of the animals within them. The team combines rigorous science with genuine agricultural understanding. Every decision is guided by animal welfare, farm viability, and the relentless pursuit of better data.

Where we are now

CattleEye is now expanding across Europe and into the US and LATAM markets, adapting its platform for new languages, regulatory frameworks, and herd management contexts. The science that underpins the system continues to develop, including breakthrough research with the Council on Dairy Cattle Breeding showing that lameness has a heritable component - opening the door to the possibility of breeding lameness out of herds… all enabled via CattleEye data.

Our Team

CattleEye is a small team with a mission to support animal welfare and support farm businesses. The leadership team drives the product, the commercial strategy, and the science. The customer success team makes sure every farm that deploys CattleEye gets the most out of it from day one.

CattleEye identifies individual cows by body shape and coat pattern as they pass under the camera. No tags or wearables needed.

How long does installation take?

Most farms are up and running in a few hours. A technician mounts the cameras, connects to your network, and you're done.

Do I need special equipment?
